Summary
- Every tool currently on Utilhex processes your files and text locally in your browser. They are not uploaded to Utilhex.
- We don’t use accounts, advertising, or tracking cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views and does not receive files or text used in a tool.
- Like any website, the server that delivers Utilhex pages receives standard technical request data (see below).
Files and text you use in tools
When you add a file or paste text into a Utilhex tool, it is read by JavaScript running in your browser tab. Processing happens on your device, sometimes in a background thread (a Web Worker) inside the same tab. The results are created on your device and downloaded directly from your browser.
Utilhex does not send this content to our servers or to third parties, does not store it in your browser’s local storage, and does not log it. It stays in memory until you clear the tool, close the tab, or reload the page.
Each tool page states how it processes data. If we ever add a tool that needs server-side processing, that tool’s page will say so clearly before you use it, and this policy will be updated to explain what is uploaded, how long it is kept, and how it is deleted.
Information stored on your device
Utilhex stores one preference in your browser’s local storage: your chosen color theme (light, dark, or system), under the key utilhex-theme. It never leaves your device. You can remove it by clearing site data in your browser settings.
Utilhex does not set cookies.
Technical request data
When your browser requests a page, our hosting provider’s infrastructure receives standard information such as your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser’s user agent. This is used to deliver the site, protect it from abuse, and diagnose outages, and is retained according to the hosting provider’s log retention settings. It does not include the contents of files or text you process in tools.
Third parties
Fonts are served from the Utilhex domain. Cloudflare Web Analytics loads one script from static.cloudflareinsights.com and reports the page address, referrer, browser, and country. It does not set a cookie. A search on the tools directory is part of the page address, so that search text is included. Our hosting provider processes request data on our behalf as described above.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to respond and keep it only as long as needed for that. Please don’t send sensitive files by email.
Children
Utilhex is a general-audience tool site and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Because we don’t collect personal data through the tools and don’t have user accounts, there is usually nothing about you for us to access or delete. If you have a question or request regarding personal data, contact us at hello@utilhex.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes, such as introducing server-side processing, will be reflected on the affected tool pages as well. See also the terms of service.
