About Watermark PDF
Watermark PDF draws text onto the pages of a document — centered, tiled, or in a corner. You control opacity, size, and color. The watermark is real page content, not a viewer-only overlay, and the file never leaves your browser.
How to use Watermark PDF
- Choose a PDF file.
- Enter the watermark text (up to 80 characters).
- Pick position, opacity, size, and color. Optionally limit the stamp to selected pages.
- Select Watermark pages and download the new PDF.
Examples
Mark a draft
Tile “DRAFT” across every page at low opacity before sending a review copy.
Confidential footer
Place “CONFIDENTIAL” in the bottom-right corner of selected pages.
Limitations
- Only Helvetica text is supported. Characters the font cannot encode are rejected with an explanation.
- This is not an image watermark and does not tile a logo. Image stamps are a different feature.
- The watermark sits on top of existing content; it does not flatten or encrypt the file.
- Encrypted PDFs must be unlocked first.
Privacy
This tool processes everything locally in your browser tab. Your input is not uploaded to Utilhex or any third party, and it is discarded when you close or reload the page. Read the privacy policy for details.
Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read and processed by JavaScript running in your browser tab. Utilhex never receives the document, and closing the tab discards it.
Can I use my company logo?
Not in this tool. Only text is drawn, using Helvetica. An image watermark would need a separate, honest implementation.
Will the watermark appear in print and in every reader?
Yes. It is drawn as page content, so it prints and shows in standard PDF viewers.
Can I use password-protected PDFs?
Not yet. Encrypted PDFs are detected and rejected with an explanation instead of producing a broken file. Remove the password in the application you used to protect it, then try again.
