About Merge PDF

Merge PDF joins two or more PDF documents into a single file. Pages are copied exactly as they are — text stays selectable and nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed — and the files are combined in the order shown in the list.

How to use Merge PDF

  1. Add two or more PDF files by dropping them onto the page or choosing them from your device.
  2. Arrange the files with the up and down buttons. The merged document follows this order from top to bottom.
  3. Select Merge PDFs and wait for processing to finish.
  4. Download the combined PDF.

Examples

Assemble an application packet

Combine a cover letter, résumé, and certificates into one PDF so recipients receive a single attachment in the right order.

Join scanned chapters

Merge separately scanned chapters of a document into one continuous file.

Limitations

  • Password-protected (encrypted) PDFs cannot be merged until the password is removed.
  • Interactive form fields with identical names in different files may conflict in some PDF viewers.
  • Document-level bookmarks (outlines) from the source files are not carried over.
  • Very large documents are limited by your device's available memory.

Privacy

This tool processes everything locally in your browser tab. Your input is not uploaded to Utilhex or any third party, and it is discarded when you close or reload the page. Read the privacy policy for details.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read and processed by JavaScript running in your browser tab. Utilhex never receives the document, and closing the tab discards it.

Does merging reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied without re-rendering, so text, vector graphics, and images keep their original quality.

Can I use password-protected PDFs?

Not yet. Encrypted PDFs are detected and rejected with an explanation instead of producing a broken file. Remove the password in the application you used to protect it, then try again.

Is there a limit on the number of files?

You can merge up to 50 files per run, each up to 150 MB, with a combined limit of 400 MB to keep the browser responsive.
