About URL Encode / Decode

URL encoding (percent-encoding) replaces characters that are unsafe in URLs with %XX sequences. Encode a single component such as a query value, encode a full URL while keeping its structure, decode encoded text, or parse a URL to inspect each query parameter.

How to use URL Encode / Decode

  1. Choose Encode, Decode, or Parse URL.
  2. For encoding, choose component mode (for values) or full URL mode.
  3. Paste your text; the result updates as you type.
  4. Copy the output.

Examples

Component

a&b=c d encodes to a%26b%3Dc%20d, safe for a query parameter value.

Parse

Parsing https://example.com/search?q=pdf+tools&page=2 lists q = pdf tools and page = 2.

Limitations

  • Decoding fails with an explanation when the input contains malformed % sequences.
  • Full URL mode does not encode reserved characters such as ?, &, and /.

Privacy

This tool processes everything locally in your browser tab. Your input is not uploaded to Utilhex or any third party, and it is discarded when you close or reload the page. Read the privacy policy for details.

Frequently asked questions

Is my input sent anywhere?

No. Processing happens in your browser. Utilhex does not send tool input to its servers, analytics, or any AI service.

Component or full URL — which should I use?

Use component mode for a single value you insert into a URL. Use full URL mode to clean up an entire address without breaking its structure.

Is + a space?

In query strings submitted by HTML forms, yes. Enable “Treat + as space” when decoding such values.
