About Crop Image

Crop Image cuts a photo down to the rectangle you choose. Drag the handles on the preview or type exact pixel values. The crop runs in your browser and writes a new file — the original on your device is not overwritten.

How to use Crop Image

  1. Choose one image.
  2. Drag the crop box, use the handles, or enter X, Y, width, and height in pixels.
  3. Optionally lock an aspect ratio such as 1:1 or 16:9.
  4. Select Crop image and download the result.

Examples

Profile photo

Crop a 1:1 square from a larger picture before uploading it as an avatar.

Remove borders

Trim unused margins from a screenshot so only the content remains.

Limitations

  • One image at a time so the crop preview stays accurate.
  • Image metadata (EXIF) is removed when the file is re-encoded.
  • Animated GIFs are cropped using their first frame.

Privacy

This tool processes everything locally in your browser tab. Your input is not uploaded to Utilhex or any third party, and it is discarded when you close or reload the page. Read the privacy policy for details.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. Images are decoded and re-encoded by your browser on your device. Utilhex never receives them.

Are the coordinates in the original image or the preview?

Pixels are measured on the upright image after EXIF orientation is applied — the same pixels that are cropped.

Is photo metadata (EXIF) kept?

No. Re-encoding through the browser canvas removes EXIF data such as GPS location and camera details, which is usually a privacy benefit. The image is rotated upright first.
